10th Session
From 12-21 December 2011, states parties to the ICC Rome Statute gathered in New York (USA) to address numerous issues central to the Court's operations. The session opened with statements by high-level ICC, ASP, and UN officials, followed statements by 38 states representatives and 12 civil society organizations . The Assembly approved a €108,800,000 budget for the ICC in 2012, as well as an additional €2,200,000 to replenish the ICC’s Contingency Fund—additional finances available to the Court as a last resort. States parties also elected 35 new officials resulting in the most significant change in the ICC and ASP leadership since the Court’s establishment, including Fatou Bensouda as the next ICC prosecutor, Ambassador Tiina Intelmann as new ASP President, two new ASP Vice-Presidents, six new judges, as well as members of the ASP Bureau and the CBF. In addition, the Assembly adopted resolutions on cooperation, reparations, permanent ICC premises, the “omnibus” resolution and an amendment to rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence. The ASP is a pivotal event for the Coalition, which has participated in ASP sessions for well over a decade. More than 150 NGO representatives contributed to discussions through side events, statements, and position papers. The next ASP took place in The Hague from 14 to 22 November 2012.
