Together for Justice: Meet Hadi Marifat

“Meaningful justice for me means putting the victims of human rights violations and atrocity crimes at the centre of the justice processes”.

Hadi Marifat, founder and director of the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization underscores how victims of human rights violations and atrocity crimes must be at the heart of justice processes. While criminal justice is crucial, Hadi emphasises that true justice for victims also includes their right to truth. Victims deserve to understand what happened and why these crimes were committed against them and their communities.

About the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization

The Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization (AHRDO) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-for-profit organization, which is committed to promoting human rights, democracy and justice in Afghanistan through investigating and documenting atrocity crimes, advocating for a victim-centered justice such as through international justice mechanisms, designing cultural and artistic initiatives to foster inter-community peace and dialogue, and developing public memory and recollection of millions of war victims as an antidote to the deep-seated culture of impunity and the profoundly in-grained ethos of war and violence in the country.
